Context

Designing the 3 Essentials learning management platform was my second time delivering an end-to-end dashboard design at 3P Learning. It combined class administration and reporting tools from two flagship brands, Reading Eggs and Mathletics, into a single sign-on portal.

I owned the design work across the full project, from collaborating on early concepts with the CPO to fleshing out the experience and implementing the underlying design system with a small development team.

Opportunity

3P Learning was pivoting to a unified e-learning solution, combining its current products into a single product offering. The challenge was to merge two separate experiences into one coherent platform, without losing what teachers relied on in either.

Outcomes
Supported the adoption of over 6,000 schools across APAC

My work on designing the new platform allowed schools to connect with our brand new program offering which was crucial for the business's B2B growth.

MANAGEMENT TOOLS

The management area was where teachers and school coordinators spent most of their time. Over a couple of months, I guided its evolution from early prototypes to production-ready screens with senior stakeholders.

Data tables: I created new patterns and reworked our tables to prioritise important and common tasks while ensuring functionality from both Reading Eggs and Mathletics were represented.

Our interfaces were quite data-heavy and at times difficult to read, so I introduced visual cues to bring crucial information to the forefront.

To establish a consistent hierarchy, I surfaced primary and secondary actions, keeping them in a logical order that followed our users' mental model.

Importing tools: In the past, teachers struggled to complete administrative tasks with our guided flows and relied heavily on our support. When building 3 Essentials, we decided to explore freeform tools that encouraged self-service.

Through several rounds of feedback and tweaking, I created several patterns and templates that allowed the team to rapidly build multiple user-facing tools to improve student and class management.

INTERNAL TOOLS

For the longest time, many schools have relied on our support teams for administrative tasks. Although we strove to encourage self-service, the reality was that our internal tools needed to be robust enough to handle the volume of support tickets the team faced.

Throughout the development of 3 Essentials, I occasionally partnered with senior developers to rapidly ideate and prototype internal tools that addressed specific problems that users or support teams were dealing with.
